An article on the Chilean web site latcetera.com from April 2010 has come to our attention:

Faith the Dog in Chilean news web site latcetera.comFaith: La perrita que camina en dos patas

Al nacer, los veterinarios propusieron sacrificarla, pero su dueña se propuso enseñarle a caminar para poder vivir.

El 21 de enero del 2003 fue una fecha muy significativa para la escritora norteamericana Jude Stringfellow: aquel día, su hijo Reuben llegó a casa con una cachorra de un mes, la cual se encontraba en un estado deplorable. “Era pequeña, débil y estaba casi muerta”

SURF DOG RICOCHET SURFS TANDEM WITH SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS AT DANA POINT NOVEMBER 13TH & 14TH

SURF DOG RICOCHET SURFS TANDEM WITH SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS AT
BEST DAY FOUNDATION'S "BEST DAY AT THE BEACH" EVENT!
DANA POINT NOVEMBER 13TH & 14TH!

View Press Release

DANA POINT, CA, November 10, 2010... Surf dog Ricochet, the SURFice dog who surfs for fun, wins dog surfing contests, and most notably surfs tandem with disabled adaptive surfers while raising funds and awareness for human/animal causes will be at the Best Day Foundation's "Day at the Beach" event at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point on November 13th & 14th.

Best Day Foundation, which helps kids with special needs build confidence and self esteem through safe, fun-filled adventure activities, will be hosting two half-day events which include surfing, bodyboarding and kayaking.  The "Best Day at the Beach" event is free for kids with special needs including Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, Cancer, Spinal Cord injuries, and other physical and developmental challenges.

Surf-ice dog RicochetWhen Max Montgomery, Best Day Co-Founder and Executive Director heard that Ricochet surfs tandem with disabled kids, he invited her to participate.  "We're stoked to see Ricochet surf at Doheny State Beach after watching her all over the internet. The kids are thrilled to meet Ricochet, and we're grateful to her for helping bring more awareness to Best Day's first events in Orange County."

Ricochet will be surfing with Ian McFarland, a six year old boy who suffered a brain injury in a horrific car accident that claimed the lives of his parents. Ian used to surf with his father, but was fearful of getting back on a board after the accident. That all changed when he surfed with Ricochet the first time.  His fears were replaced with excitement, and now Ian says "I want to wipe out with Ricochet!" See for your self!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iIv5t2qKL4.

Patrick Ivison, a 16 year old quadriplegic surfer, the first to ever surf tandem with Ricochet will also be hitting the waves with her on a tandem surfboard generously provided by Surftech Surfboards

In addition, Ricochet will surf solo as a demonstration to further promote confidence building... "if a dog can do it, so can you!"  She will offer encouragement, and help kids who show any apprehension of getting on a board. She will be busy with meet & greets, and of course offer lots of cuddling on the beach too!

Trained volunteers are paired with each kid, and they begin their Best Day with fun exercises before hitting the water.  The safe, fun activities are designed to expand their potential, create excitement, and connect them with new friends. After an exciting day at the beach and a warm lunch, each participant is individually honored for their achievements during an award ceremony.  All the children are gold medal winners at Best Day's events!

Federal Judge Richard Posner mentioned Faith in a recent judicial opinion

Faith the Dog was cited in an opinion before the United States Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit

In the case ROBINSON v. McNEIL CONSUMER HEALTHCARE PPC

Argued June 2, 2010 -- August 11, 2010

There is no inconsistency in testifying that a dog cannot walk on its hind legs but that if that's wrong and it can, still it can't (unless perhaps its name is Faith, see “Faith the Dog's Official Website,” www.faiththedog.info (visited July 29, 2010)) walk on its hind legs for an hour at a time. A dog can walk on its hind legs, with some training; and a witness who denies this might be thought less credible, in testifying that a dog can't walk on its hind legs for an hour at a time, than if she'd known that a dog can walk on its hind legs. But such a tension is for a jury to weigh.

Faith Moves to Indy!

Hey, I doubt Faith will be doing any NASCAR racing, but she does live in the Indianapolis suburbs now. She loves it.  We just got a place out to the West of the great city in the Heartland.  People ask us all the time why we moved to Indy, and I'm thinking about telling them that Faith wants to learn to drive race cars, and if that doesn't work out she can try out for the Colts.  The fact is that we have a great friend out this way and she kept bragging about her fair city so we decided to check it out ourselves.

Remember Liz Morken, the sales rep from Precise food?  She lives out this way too -- every chance she got she would tell us how great it was.  She loves her state, shows lots of spirt for it.  We moved up here and we can certainly see why.  It's bright, cheery, fun, clean.  Everyone seems nice, and to top it all off - - they love Faith.  We run into so many people who love her and are so happy to see her.  She has been chasing Canada geese, she even saw a skunk to follow for a while - - we put a stop to that.

Faith and all our other dogs (and Faith's kitten Buble) are so happy here.  We bought a house that overlooks a certain hole on a golf course so Faith gets to watch the golfers, the carts, the people, the activities and of course the maintenance crew every day.  Deer and owls are out every morning when we walk the area; she chases geese throughout the day who decide to visit the greens.  There's a little pond that has a few fish in it, crawfish too, frogs and tadpoles. She's in Heaven. I should take photos of Faith getting her nose pinched by a crawfish, but I won't.  I'll post something fun soon I promise. She sitson the patio most of the day - - and will until it gets colder. She's not much for snow, but she'll like watching from  the windows.

Thanks to Liz of course for being so postive about Indianapolis.  We love it here.

Daily Mail Online

Meet Faith, the two-legged dog who has been made an honorary sergeant in the U.S. army

"A two-legged dog who has learned to walk upright has been made an honorary sergeant in the U.S. army for inspiring disabled war veterans.

Faith, an eight-year old labrador-chow cross is a favourite at army bases and hospitals, where she 'marches' around on her hind legs, dressed in a military jacket.

Her owner Jude Stringfellow, from Oklahoma City, is now trying to bring the remarkable canine to Britain to meet troops wounded in Afghanistan."
